Schools siezed: Bullrich presents a work plan in the Legislature

Buenos Aires City Education Minister Esteban Bullrich introduced in the Legislature his plan works for the school building improvements in the city that were seized by students two weeks ago.

The teacher unions and some students were present to take the floor and harshly criticized Mauricio Macri government policies.

Bullrich said that in the 2 ½ years of Macri’s management “it has invested 50 percent more than the four years of the previous administration” in regard to infrastructure.

The minister’s presentation covers the work carried out in educational establishments, in addition to the projections provided with a corresponding budget execution.

In addition, the official said he will ask the Justice a tool to identify students who carried out the seizure of the schools.

The waters are divided into this subject, because taking a public building is against the law but some people consider that it is the only way to draw the authorities’ attention. Of course this is a double-edged sword, because no taking classes for so long hurts the students themselves.

The way to solve this problem for the city government is to extend the classes in February, according to the minister’s statements.
