Mayor in Tamaulipas state was killed
Hidalgo Mayor Marco Antonio Leal was murdered on Sunday. The municipality of Hidalgo is located in the northern state of Tamaulipas.
Leal was shot dead by a gunman when he was traveling with his daughter in his car. The girl has minor injuries.
Moreover, Hidalgo former Mayor Cesareo Rocha Villanueva was killed on August 13.
Also, the candidate for governor of Tamaulipas for the PRI party, Rodolfo Torre Cantú was gunned down in late June.
The state of Tamaulipas became one of the areas hardest hit by drug violence, being the scene of a war between the powerful cartel Los Zetas and the Gulf cartel.
Tamaulipas became in 48 hours, the scene of attacks by explosives in the municipalities of Ciudad Victoria, Reynosa and Tampico, leaving at least 21 wounded.
