The subway strike is in “stand by”
Claudio Della Carbonara, representative of the rail workers’ union of Metrovías not aligned to UTA, said they decided to temporarily suspend the subway strike planned for today from 19 to 22.
Néstor Segovia and Labour Ministry officials held a meeting at noon which, according to the union leader, “was positive.” The subway workers in assembly will vote whether to lift the strike or not.
Carbonara said that “there are people trying to steal the right to sign and discuss things that have nothing to do with the interests of workers” and that this shows that the railroad seek other representation.
While Labor has not assured the granting of legal status, it defined a series of wage increases that target the goal of an increase of 35% and the reinstitution of 2% per year of seniority.
