One of the men trapped in the mine was a Chilean national team’s player

Franklin Lobos is one of the men who are trapped underground in northern Chile and also who played in the Chilean soccer team.

At the time of San Jose mine collapse, Lobos worked as a driver of the miners, taking care to introduce and bring men from the site.

The former player won a title with the Cobresal and defended his country’s shirt from the decade of 80s and 90s. He even joined the team that managed to qualify for the Olympics in 1984.

His daughter Carolina sent him a letter that was known by the media. “We wanted to send you a ball but it does not pass through the tube” she wrote.
