Juan Manuel Santos swore as new president of Colombia

Juan Manuel Santos swore today and became the 59th president in a ceremony witnessed by 5,000 guests. Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Kirchner attended the swearing.
 
“I swear before God and promise to faithfully fulfill the people’s Constitution and the laws of Colombia” Santos said to swear as new president.

Among heads of State and Government, more than twenty important personalities were present. Prince Felipe de Bourbon also attended on behalf of Spain.
 
Cristina Kirchner said she was going to bring everything to Colombia and South America to improve in social development.

“We accompany the people of Colombia and the new government in this new political phase that begins,” said Cristina when leaving the hotel in Bogota where she was staying.

The delegation of Argentina was completed by Néstor Kirchner, Héctor Timerman, José Pampuro, head of the Senate and the legal secretary of the presidency, Carlos Zanini.
 
Nestor Kirchner met with Santos when he get to Bogota after a meeting between Chavez and Lula da Silva to mediate between the two countries.
