Alvaro Uribe demanded Hugo Chavez in the International Criminal Court

Jaime Granados, lawyer of the new president of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, said that when Hugo Chavez announced that Nicolas Maduro will represent him at the inauguration of the new president, Juan Manuel Santos, “Álvaro Uribe decided to demand him in the International Criminal Court.”
He added that “the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was today in Caracas and is now in Bogota with a specific mission in the Colombian capital, but he did not specify.”
Granados said that “there is a case before the ICC against Chavez and other in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights against Venezuela due to the violation of those rights.”
When radio stations were reporting the event, Uribe was leading a reception for guests at the inauguration of Santos as a farewell after eight years in the government.
Most of the guests of the inauguration of Santos as new president arrived to Bogota, a city that is guarded by 40.000 police and military forces to prevent any attack by the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) or other armed organizations.
Santos will be joined by 80 international delegations, including 14 presidents, two vice presidents, three prime ministers and Prince Felipe de Borbón, heir of the Spanish Crown.
Lula da Silva and the general secretary of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), Nestor Kirchner, who also came from Caracas, made no statements in his arrival to Bogota.
Kirchner said only that “the change of command in Colombia is an opportunity for the peoples of the region to continue growing and befriending to build a Latin America for all.”
Correa, president of Ecuador was one of the most anticipated guests because their country does not have full diplomatic relationships with Colombia since March 2008.
