Maradona is no longer the Argentina National team coach

AFA spokesman Ernesto Cherquis Bialo announced that Diego Armando Maradona is out of Argentina National team. Sergio Batista will replace him temporarily in the game against Ireland.

“The Executive Committee has just met with Julio Grondona and has decided unanimously not to renew Diego Maradona’s contract as head coach in charge of the Argentina National team,” said the spokesman.

“Maradona will always have the doors open,” said Cherquis during the press conference.

Anyway, it was announced that “there is no a replacement yet. We just have decided not to renew his contract. We didn’t think about a replacement.”

“There was a very wide band gap between Maradona and the AFA to even begin a new dialogue,” the spokesman said giving an explanation to Maradona´s dismissal.
