Abortion: Minister Manzur said “he did not sign any resolution”

In an episode of much confusion, the Ministry of Health issued a statement clarifying that the holder of that portfolio, Juan Manzur, has not made any decision regarding abortion.

The statement said the minister “has not signed any decision with respect to the Technical Guide for Comprehensive Care of No Unlawful Abortions”.

But officials in second and third level within the ministry had said yesterday and today that his minister had actually signed an administrative decision on July 12, updating the original guide.

This was expressed for example by the coordinator of Sexual Health Program of the Ministry, Paula Ferro.

In fact, the official website of the Ministry loaded yesterday afternoon, about 6 pm, a different version of the Technical Guide.

Now the statements were aimed in another direction: “He never signed (the resolution) and he won’t do it” spokesperson explained, since this protocol was developed by the administration of former Minister Ginés González García.
