Cuba will release 52 dissidents

As part of negotiations with the Cuban Catholic Church, Raul Castro allowed the release of 52 political prisoners is a total period of four months, thus sealing a policy that shows that communism is not the same as violation of rights and that a nation which was isolated from the world can reflect on its mistakes.

Yesterday, the Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, visited the Cuban leader and it seems that this meeting was momentous for the organization that released the first batch of prisoners (five) will go for the Iberian country.

In a statement issued by the Catholic Church it says that five Cuban prisoners “will be released and will leave shortly for Spain in the company of their families,” adding that “47 of the remaining prisoners who were arrested in 2003, will be released and may leave the country.”
