Uruguay fought till the end, but Holland won and reaches the final

Holland defeated 3-1 to Uruguay in the first semifinal of World Cup South Africa 2010. Van Bronckhorst, Sneijder and Robben scored for the oranges. Forlan had tied for Uruguay.

Despite having control of the ball, Holland had a hard time to find the first goal. It was at 18th when Captain Van Bronckhorst slashed a great shot to left corner of goalkeeper Muslera.

But at 41 of the first half, striker Forlan marked the tie with another great left-footed shot.

There, Uruguay found their place in the match and complicated Holland, that began to get nervous and had to retreat back.

However, as happened against Brazil, the Netherlands found a goal that changed the mood of the game in their favor, at minute 70th. Sneijder kicked to goal and the ball was touched by Van Persie, who was offside. Muslera reacted late over this position of Van Persie and the ball went into the far post.

Three minutes later, Robben hit a left center and put the ball into the bottom right of Muslera for 3-1.

It seemed that the Netherlands would end the match at any time with a counterattack.

Forlan was replaced, but his presence would had been important in the end, because Uruguay put the 2-3 by Alvaro Pereira. The match was exciting in the end, with South Americans into Holland area.
