Italy drew with Paraguay in an intense match

For the first match in Group F, Italy was faced with Paraguay on one of the most electric matches in the opening round of the World Cup South Africa 2010.

The first half began with a more attacking Italian team, which generated chances with players such as Mandolivo, while Paraguay had a series of sharp attacks that gave a certain fear to the Europeans.

In the 38th minute, Alcaraz scored with a header after a great free kick by Aureliano Torres, player of San Lorenzo de Almagro.

In the second half Italy sought the equalizer. It was always more dangerous, although the South Americans had some major counter strike situations. At 63 minutes following a corner executed by Simone Pepe, De Rossi identified with his foot after an incredible error from goalkeeper Villar when he went out to get the ball.

The last minutes were electrifying. There was a return match with missed chances and suffering on both sides, but finally it was all 1-1.
