Te Deum in the Basilica of Luján

President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said today that the image of people around the Basilica of Luján is “the real Argentina” and that “they can not hide it.” In this context, the Archbishop of Mercedes-Luján Radrizzani Augustine said today that “the Bicentennial is an unavoidable challenge for the nation.”

“That is the Argentina that surfaces, and that Argentina can not be hiden, can not be distorted” the president said as she left the Basilica, after attending the Te Deum celebrated by the Archbishop of the Diocese of Luján, Agustín Radrizzani.

The head of state added that there were “millions of Argentines to reaffirm faith in the homeland”, when asked by media about the Bicentennial celebrations.

During the ceremony, the archbishop noted that “By this time and against the globalization we must strengthen our integration with the fraternal countries and remember the holemand that San Martín and Bolívar dreamed about.”

“In our culture prevail values of faith and solidarity, values that have their origin in God and helps us advance new national project to make it great and noble” he added.

Meanwhile, the envoy of Pope Benedict XVI, Adriano Bernardini, read the message of His Holiness for the Bicentennial in which he said: “I express my affection and deeply spiritual closeness to all Argentines to which I commend to my prayer.”

“I ask the Lord to bless the Argentines with harmony, peace and prosperity,” says the Pope’s message.

For his part, Daniel Goldman invited “to continue exercising the memory in our country for generations as our children can say with pride: to the great Argentine people shalom.”
