‘Oriental Yeti’ caught in China
An unidentified animal dubbed ‘Oriental Yeti’ has been discovered in China.
Scientists will examine the mysterious creature, a small hairless animal that resembles a bear with a kangaroo tail, which was trapped by hunters in Sichuan province in the country’s remote central woodlands. Hunters believe the creature is a legendary animal that was “once a man”.
The animal has been shipped to Beijing for DNA testing in attempts to learn more about its origins.
“There are local legends of a bear that used to be a man and some people think that’s what we caught,” said hunter Lu Chin.
The ‘Oriental Yeti’ is not the first unidentifiable creature to surface around the world during the last several years.
In Panama, a group of teenagers photographed a hairless creature with an animal like head but with long and skinny arms and legs. Someone claimed that the animal is a sloth, but cannot explain the lacking presence of fur.
In 2008, a creature called the Montauk Monster washed ashore in New York. In the case of the Montauk Monster various experts have argued that the animal is a raccoon, dog, or a turtle.
