Ruling party defeated in Pinamar and Mendoza elections
Candidate Blas Antonio Altieri became the new Pinamar mayor, winning local elections by 46.42%. Thus, the new village head replaced ousted Roberto Porreti, who was dismissed for being immersed in corruption with the seaside city dancing clubs.
Interestingly, Altieri was supported by Buenos Aires province governor Daniel Scioli, in opposition to the ruling party candidate Rosana Di Pasquale, who was supported by the Peronist Party provincial president and deputy governor, Alberto Balestrini.
Di Pasquale was third, with 11.51% of the vote under radical candidate Mercedes Taurizano, who obtained 38.22% of the vote.
Meanwhile, UCR won first place in the Mendoza elections for councilors, with a comfortable 40% of the vote, the conservative Democratic Party came second (12%) and Socialism, which is led by a former radical leader was third (10%).
The PRO of Mauricio Macri is ranked fourth (9%) and the candidate of Governor Celso Jaque (Peronist Party), followed with 9, 2%. These parties got no banks.
For his part, Vice President Julio Cobos can celebrate this victory as his own, despite the political enmity with Fayad. Only in the last stretch of the campaign, Cobos called to vote for the list 3. Last night Cobos contacted Fayad and congratulated him.
