Hillary Clinton congratulated Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico for their 200 years of independence
Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State of the United States, congratulated today Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico for the celebration of its 200 years of independence, emphasizing the defense of democracy.
In her message she said “We all unite the Americas to honor our shared history and values of democracy, diversity and tolerance that are our common heritage.”
Adding, “This anniversary represents an honor to our past while looking toward the future.”
Indicating that “She congratulates the four countries in name of the President Barack Obama and all the Americans for the their 200 years of independence.”
Clinton recalled “the challenges faced by the continent last year with the military coup in Honduras and the earthquakes in Chile and Haiti that left thousands of victims” and also said that “that events tested our ability to respond as a community to these events”
She also noted that “We have gone through these challenges together, with faith in our institutions, faith in our values and compassion for our friends and neighbors.”
And asked “to continue this spirit of cooperation despite moments of crisis to face the challenges and give opportunities to the population.”
And concluded by appealing to “defend the democracy, the human rights, also to ensure the equality of opportunities in the continent and to encourage the relationship between the countries.”
