Chile: Man arrested for ‘bomb on the plane’ joke

Chilean Police sources reported that “a 48 year old miner was arrested today in the Chilean city of La Serena after saying, in jest, that he was carrying a bomb while on a plane from the north of the country to Santiago.”

The same sources indicated that “had boarded Flight 329, of LAN airlines in the northern city of Antofagasta and when the plane carrying over 150 passengers, was about to take off after a stopover in the city of La Serena, told a of the flight attendants he had a bomb attached. “

All passengers were immediately evacuated, while the aircraft was subjected to a thorough review by a police bomb squad.

After the  inspection of the plane, the man confessed that he had been joking. The aircraft took off with two hours late, from La Serena, 470 kilometers from Santiago, to it’s final destination in the Chilean capital .

The identity of  ‘the joker ‘ was not disclosed, but he was arrested after the incident.
