Cristina: “I called off the trip to China because the Vice President doesn’t fulfill his role”

President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner announced that she will not make her trip to China as vice president Julio Cobos is “failing in his role with responsability.” “He has become a leader of the opposition.”

“This (the trip to China) means that I’d stay ten days out of the country, a period too long especially when the country’s Vice President does not fulfill the role that has been assigned to him according to the Constitution. And he has not only become the leader of the opposition party, but he also opposes and hampers measures that are needed by the President,” claimed Kirchner, directly aiming at Julio Cobos.

“While others do not exercise their roles with responsibility, I must do so. Any citizen may disagree with the policies of the executive, but not in the place of the Vice President because the Constitution assigns him a very clear and strong role.”

“There is an incompatibility, if he is Vice President he can not be dissident.” “You can not be on Boca’s stands and cheer River’s goals.”

The president also addressed the conflict of the Central Bank’s funds and the decree of necessity and urgency (DNU) that removes Martin Redrado from the body’s front.

She literally said: “I have instructed the Cabinet Chief to send a note to the Lower House to summon the Budget and Finance Committee members to enable them to elect their authorities, so that with the president they may have a quorum of three members on five, because the monetary institution’s head requires a delay and urgency that may damage the interests of the country if it’s not made in time,” explained the President.

“Clearly, it takes two to tango. One politician is needed to seek political solutions before the Justice and a judge provides them issuing statements that are the subject field of the executive,” pointing to the actions of Judge Sarmiento.

“The NUD were not created by this Government, they were introduced in 1994 by an agreement between Alfonsin and Menem,” she added.

“I agree with NUD, otherwise I would not use them. I gave this decree which was objected in the court because not only there was a recess in the Chamber but also because the famous committee that recommends the BCRA’s president dismissal wasn’t constituted.”

Once again, Cristina hammered the media. In direct response to a Clarin reporter:

“I’m willing to die so that you keep writing the same lies you write in your newspaper (Clarin), with the freedom that you always do”, said the president.

Among other things, the Head of State reported thatshe won’t call a special session in Congress over the state reserves to repay the debt. She said that the discussion will continue in March when the regular sessions are resumed.
