Independiente coach, Américo Rubén Gallego and his assistant, former goalkeeper Luis Islas helped in the arrest of a dangerous robber who had just stolen in a mall and was wanted for murder in Tucuman. Apparently “Tolo” Gallego pushed him and Islas, knocked him with a punch.

It happened last Wednesday afternoon, when  Sandra Diaz Tolaba was arriving to a bank in Salta city, where Independiente is currently in the preseason, to make a deposit of 35,000 pesos when two men in a bike snatched her briefcase full of money.

The woman started to shout and several men set out to catch the thieves and managed to shot down the vehicle, but could not stop them at that time.

One of them escaped, but the other, that ran off, did not run with the same fate …

“Unfortunately for him, ran to the parking lot of shopping and found himself faced with Islas and Gallego, who pushed him, and after that Islas knocked him with a punch”, said a witness.

The thief was taken to jail, his name is Jesus Matias Gonzalez, and resulted to be one of the suspects in the murder of Silvia Roselló Castle, killed at 13th December in San Miguel de Tucuman.

After the murder of Silvia, mother of three, police began a major search to find the fugitive without knowing that, all they needed, was the former footballers´s help.
