Obama: “Haiti is a priority for the U.S.”
After the devastation of Haiti due to an earthquake, the President of the USA, Barack Obama, said that Haiti is a priority to his country,
“Haiti is a priority for the U.S.,” said the president, while confirmed that the first contingent of American aid workers was already on the island to assist those who are still under the rubble.
“I want to speak directly to the people of Haiti, you have suffered for a long time and to have to deal with this new disaster will make you wonder why God has abandoned Haiti. I’m going to tell you that we won’t forget you, we won’t abandon you. The United States are on your side, the world is, you’ve endured a history of slavery and your faith has been unwavering” said Obama during the speech.
Obama also mentioned that another aircraft carrier and a hospital ship are coming to the island with more help. He also said that the United States spent $ 100 million to send aid teams, food, water and medicine to Haiti.
