Pakistani athlete is punished for hugging a woman and drinking beer

A hockey player who took part in a tournament in Salta was punished for hugging a woman and drinking beer. The man had to pay a $ 1176 fine in Pakistan.

The sanction was imposed by the sports authorities of that country, after the athletes’ pictures were spread on television.

The player, identified as Rehan Butt, the member of a hockey team, was fined 1,176 US dollars while manager Asif Bajwa and coach Shahid Ali Khan were fined 588 US dollars each.

The photos were taken during a dinner at the end of the “Champions Challenge” in Argentina and later published by women in their Facebook website.

‘Pakistan is an Islamic country and hugging a female or drinking alcohol is not acceptable in our society,’ committee chairman Jamshid Dasti told German Press Agency dpa.

‘It’s a warning for all our national players that they should avoid indulging in any immoral activity during their foreign trips,’ Dasti added.
