Long-distance buses strike affected hundreds of passengers
A surprising strike made by workers of the Urban Transport Workers Union (AWU) affected by a few hours ago hundreds of passengers at the terminal of Retiro. Drivers of long-distance buses were demanding for increases in their wages.
According to sources of the union the protest was made to request for an adjustment in the budget received by drivers, which supposedly was expected to be done in January but wasn’t.
The companies involved were Chevallier, Via Bariloche, Flecha Bus and Vosa.
Mario Verdeguer, one of the leaders of the Long Distance Company, rejected the measure, saying that they rushed in taking decisions and confirmed that they had planned a meeting with the employees for next Monday where they will solve the situation.
Hundreds of passengers, angry with the situation, and fearing of being stranded for several hours, cheered when the strike was cancelled.
Anyway, the union leaders announced that despite having cancelled the strike they didn’t come to an agreement with the company and new measures are feared.
