Ernesto Sabato was proposed as a candidate for the Nobel Prize of Literature
The famous Argentine writer Ernesto Sabato was proposed by the General Society of Authors and Publishers for the Nobel Prize of Literature at the Swedish Academy. His “literary merits” made him enter the list.
The Spanish writer Miguel Delibes and the Nicaraguan writer Ernesto Cardenal were also proposed for the award.
In a document, the SGAE argues the proposal of the Argentine due to the “accredited literary merits of each of these three universal authors, who were proposed to the most prestigious award of culture”
Octavio Paz in 1990 was the last writer from Latin America to win the Nobel, Camilo Jose Cela (1989), Gabriel García Márquez (1982), Vicente Aleixandre (1977), Pablo Neruda (1971), Miguel Angel Asturias (1967), Juan Ramón Jiménez ( 1956), Gabriela Mistral (1945), Jacinto Benavente (1922) and José Echegaray (1904) were other winners of it in Spanish language
SGAE, due to a request of the Swedish Academy, proposed him as a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature.
