December 8th Virgin Mary´s Immaculate Conception Day
It is the most famous celebration and revered of Christianity, especially in Hispanic countries.
The dogma of the ‘Virgin Mary´s Immaculate Conception” proclaimed by Pio IX on December 8, 1854 says that “Mary, by an unique privilege, was preserved from the original sin from the first moment of her conception.”
After this event, the festival became the most popular and solemn of the Virgin.
Since the seventh century it is celebrated in the East, in Ireland since the ninth century, in England since the eleventh century, and Spain, two centuries before the dogmatic definition, proclaimed with papal permission, the Immaculate as Patroness of Spain and its Indies . The Council of Baltimore, declared the immaculate Patroness of the United States.
