Sandro refuses a tracheotomy fearing it would damage his vocal cords
After singer Sandro underwent two heart-lung transplants and surgery last Monday by a small fissure in the trachea, his doctors insist that he needs a tracheotomy. Apparently, the “Gypsy” disagrees and he refuses to be operated.
Olga, his wife, backs Sandro’s decision, claiming that such surgery is painful and invasive, and on top of that there is the possibility that this surgery might damage his vocal cords.
His nutritional status is the doctors’ concern, who say that the singer can remain connected to a ventilator and be fed by mouth in order to regain the much-needed physical strength, that has been visibly lost.
“With the intake of food, the muscles of swallowing come into action, circulation is reactivated and the scarring improves,” explained the doctors.
In turn, they said that the singer collaborates with his recovery and he has “good spirits”.
