9 de Julio Avenue blocked in front of the Ministry of Social Development

Again today, a group of picketers partially block traffic on 9 de Julio Avenue. This time the protest affects three lanes and is causing heavy traffic in the area.

The event takes place outside the Ministry of Social Development, as it had happened two days ago, when traffic was interrupted during 31 straight hours.

This camping turned the City Government against the national authorities again.

The head of Buenos Aires City Government, Mauricio Macri, accused the National Executive of not answering the request for an eviction order that made the city administration.

Basically the organizations want to continue managing the millions of handouts granted by the government to the unemployed, underemployed and families which have made some of the picket organizations formidable political forces.

The organizations involved in today’s protest are those closer to the ruling party.
