Buenos Aires, again in chaos by protests

piquetes Buenos Aires city was hit again today by several demonstrations and roadblocks. Traffic in the downtown area and near the National Congress was a mess.

About 200 owners of dance clubs, demonstrated on Callao Avenue to reject the Buenos Aires government’s initiative to cap the business hours of dance clubs.

However, the largest demonstration planned for the day is spearheaded by the Confederation of Argentine Workers (CTA), which convened to march in support for laid off Kraft Foods workers.

The Director of Corporate Affairs, Kraft Foods, Pedro Lopez Matheu, rejected today the sayings of Labor Minister Carlos Tomada, who accused the company of “taking revenge” with the workers.

Groups of picketers, leftists and students organizations focus met at the “Pbelisco” and opposite the Central Post Office. They plan to march in two groups: one, to Congress and anotherto the Ministry of Labor.

In turn, at Lavalle Street retirees led by Raul Castells marched to the Social Security Administration, demanding a pay increase.
