Jorge “Fino” Palacios resigned
Jorge “Fino” Palacios was meant to take on his news duties on October 1st but according to what Mauricio Macri said at a news conference, he resigned “for personal reasons.” He acknowledged his conviction about the personal and professional qualities of the declining party, and regarded his decision as “a gesture of greatness to not complicate the government’s administration.”
Palacios had been appointed as police chief in Buenos Aires on last July 2.
In turn, Montenegro denied that the resignation of “Fino” had been influenced by the sayings of prosecutor Alberto Nisman for a possible prosecution in AMIA’s case of the now former police chief of Buenos Aires. He also referred to a meeting with authorities of AMIA and DAIA who “didn’t question Palacios’ virtues”.
Guillermo Montenegro, Secretary of Government; Marcos Peña; and Buenos Aires PRO legislators, Diego Santilli, Cristian Ritondo and Martín Borrelli accompanied the chief of the Buenos Aires government during the conference.
