Madeleine McCann case: new lead points to mysterious power boat

Detectives hunting for Madeleine McCann were last night trying to trace a multi-million-dollar power boat.

The high-speed craft flying the Australian flag was moored yards from the spot where a nervous Victoria Beckham lookalike asked a Brit: “Are you here to deliver my daughter?”

Private detectives are probing whether the woman, who spoke with an Aussie accent, may have fled on the boat.

They believe she could have mistaken him for an abductor hired to snatch the then three-year-old from her parents’ holiday apartment in Portugal on May 3, 2007

The bizarre conversation took place 880 miles away at the Port Olimpic marina in Barcelona three days after the kidnap.

At the time the Aussie suspect approached the innocent party-goer, the boat was tied up at the quayside.

The vessel was one of only nine to enter the exclusive marina over a 48-hour period on May 6 and 7 and was the only “unfamiliar” boat to sail in on those two days.
