Defense Minister Nilda Garré ordered to remove the radar installed last year in Posadas, capital of Misiones province to detect illegal flights.

With this measure, the region is freed for airborne drug smugglers.

TPS 43 radar, stopped working yesterday, leaving the airspace of northeastern Argentina, free for smuggling, since there are no military radars in the area.

Defense Ministry officials blamed it on budget cuts, and made sure that the radar will be moved temporarily to Reconquista for use in air force maneuvers, after which, it will be put back where it was.
