Supreme Court Justice member, Carlos Fayt, referred to the debate on drugs use decriminalization and said that “a period of meditation” is necessary, since he admitted to having “doubts“, and anticipated that he plans to “modify” his original position on the subject.

The position of the magistrate also contrasted with that of his colleage at the Supreme Court, criminal attorney Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni, who gave the juridical essentials about the policies of decriminalization of the use of drugs that have been gaining terrain in Argentina lately.

Fayt admitted that he has “doubts” about the real impact that will have in the country the modification of the criminal code. The minister of the maximum court moved forward that he is ready to “change” his previous vision, which was more leaning to punishing the use of illegal drugs.
