Evita was born on May 7, 1919 in the tow on Los Toldos, Buenos Aires province. Daughter of Juana Ibarguren, her childhood passed in the city of Junín along with her two sisters. On having been born, it was noted down under the name of Maria Eva Duarte. It was a daughter of Juan Duarte, who never legitimized the relation with his mother.

In her youth, Eva began to show her artistic vocation, what impelled her to travel to Buenos Aires, the big cosmopolitan center, where she settled in 1934.

In the Argentine capital she was employed as an actress at small places and at the radio, and from 1935 she began to enjoy certain popularity, although her roles were lacking relevancy.

Ten years later she met (then colonel) Juan Domingo Perón, on August 22, 1944 during a festival in the Luna Park to collect funds for the victims of the earthquake of San Juan. He was 25 years old and Perón 50. Soon Perón was dismissed of his charges of the secretariat of Labor and of the vicepresidency of the nation and  confined in the island of Martín García. Then Eva showed her big energy and charisma to connect his husband with the nationalistic sectors of the army  and with the workpeople, who had benefited from the social measures impelled by Perón’s management.

Among her political achievements there is counted the feminine vote, the active collaboration with the CGT (workers union) and the Foundation of Public assistance Maria Eva Duarte de Perón, created in 1948, to which a profuse work owes: hospitals, schools, the infantile city and the student city.

Evita died on July 26, 1952 only 33. She had confessed: “I do not have another illusion that of me it is said that I was a woman who lived along with Perón, whom the people affectionately called Evita”.
