Gaudio lost to Italian Fognini and said goodbye to Estoril

The “Cat” Gastón Gaudio (400) could not hold the winning streak, after having conquered last Sunday the Challenger of Tunisia, and fell on Wednesday to Italian Fabio Fognini, by 6-3 6-4 in his presentation in the ATP of Estoril.

Máximo González was also eliminated, on having lost to Chilean Paul Capdeville for 2-6, 6-2  6-3.

Another Argentinean, Juan Mónaco (45), made his debut yesterday with a comfortable victory over Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas (125) by 6-2  6-4, and will play again tomorrow against France’s Florent Serra (52), who eliminated the Argentinean Diego Junqueira (73).

Among the women, Maria Emilia Salerni (654) made her debut yesterday with a victory over French Julie Coin (67) by 6-4 6-4, and later it will face the Russian Maria Kirilenko (37), the second seed of the tournament.
